If you think the hot pant has beaten a retreat to the summer wardrobe, you're mistaken, as it is going to do another round this monsoon. With city fashionistas saying a tacit 'yes' to hot pants, the fashion corridors are gearing up for another sizzling hot fashion splash. Designer Ashish Parikh says, "Hot pants are in these days because they are comfortable. You don't want to wear anything clingy or blingy that will be a burden on the body. Clothes that are easy on the body are always preferred." He adds, "There is also a certain level of acceptability from the society as far as such shorts are concerned. Only a decade back it was a different situation." While the acceptability factor has increased, student Sakshi Soni feels the otherwise. She says, "I would love to wear hot pants and go out in the evenings. But I don't feel all the comfortable. As compared to other metro cities, Ahmedabad is yet to develop that mind set where even hot pants are not gazed upon." But she does accept that they are in vogue these days. "Hot pants are hassle free and very casual, just what you would want for a casual stroll in the evening." Youngsters in the same age groups find it enthralling to go out wearing the latest fashion clothings. A young student Eshita Shah says, "While going out with friends, all I am thinking is the best comfortable outfit that won't bother me when I am out having fun. Hot pants are just the right combination with a casual T-shirt and flip-flops." Needless to say Bollywood has its effects on the young minds with Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu, Anushka Sharma and Kareena Kapoor donning the hot and short are seen on-screen. Designer Barsha Dutta reflects the same ideas. She says, "Bollywood is a big influence as far as fashion is concerned. You see all these divas in movies and posters wearing hot pants which inspires the young lot." She adds, "Ahmedabad has become more cosmopolitan with many outsiders coming to the city. The girls are more confident these days and they know they can carry it off. With such fashion being accepted more readily is a major reason."
